Welcome to 2006

Well I hope you all have, if not a happy new year, then at least one with a measure of increased success and hope than the last.

This year will see a number of plans hatched by Boulty & myself take shape. The breakup of our band Anæmic was a blow and a severe disappointment after so many years, but we're gonna turn that floundered ship around. Over the last month we've collectively spent nearly £600 on new microphones and over the coming months we will do our damnedest to make that investment pay for itself. As studio ventures go we're starting with humble beginnings but we have no intention of remaining that way.

So, for us, 2006 will rotate around this: Stuck On A Name Recordings

You can read the site for details of what we're providing for bands and such. With a little from word of mouth and a lot of help from selective plugging we will hopefully make a good name for ourselves. And eventually, we might actually make this our living. You have to have a goal, and one thing we both know is that we don't want to spend the rest of our working lives as someone elses undervalued employee.

As far as our own music goes, we're working on new songs with me on drums. And we may be forming some kind of grindcore project with others we know. We'll see how that all works out.

For the curious,

The Studio Projects T3 vacuum tube mic is based on classic 1950’s era designs, combined with present day technological refinements. It is a versatile microphone with abundant applications in the studio from pianos and strings to guitar cabinets and saxophones. Also a serious vocal mic, the T3 will please even the most discerning ears.

Price: £285
The Studio Projects B1 condenser microphone is a large diaphragm cardioid microphone in a pressure-gradient transducer employing high quality transformerless design and extremely low noise.

It will enhance any professional or project studio application at an unbelievable low price. As a result of uncompromising dedication and today's advanced production abilities, Studio Projects has broken the barrier of quality vs price for today's recording studio environment.

Price: £65
The i-5 is a professional dynamic instrument microphone designed for a wide variety of applications for live sound and studio performance. Characterized with a cardioid
pick-up pattern and a frequency response of 50 Hz–15 kHz, the i-5 is an ideal choice for snare, toms, percussion instruments, electric guitar cabs, brass, and acoustic instruments. Clear, accurate, and able to handle sound pressure levels in excess of 140 dB, the i-5 can also be utilized for speech and vocals. Transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced output allow interference free performance, even with long cable runs. The i-5 housing and grill are precision cast parts made of zinc-alloy metal, with durable black e-coat finish.

Price: £240 (we bought 3 of these)
