New video online
Well our last couple of weekends have been both productive and somewhat expensive. We spent 4 days working with the guys from Awoken By Moonlight on their 5-track EP and we finished the vocal recording and mixing work for Red County War Ensemble. Unfortunatly we also succeeded in blowing a tweeter on one of our monitors which means the upgrades we had planned for the near future are gonna have to be pushed forward a little bit!

We're looking at purchasing a pair of these; the Adams P11A. Which will probably cost us about £900+. Gulp! So any business would be much appreciated at this point!

Still, all will be well. Heres a funky video clip from the ABM sessions: Clicky!

Hey,

I was randomly listening to some mp3s just now and anæmic came on. I thought I'd check out anaemic.org and was gutted to see you've packed it in. You were really good.

I have to say it's a bit weird that you're drumming for Project A now (I saw on your stuck on a name website). At first I thought 'you've stolen their name!', then I realised it was the same band (well Kris anyway, Tracy, Bren and myself have since left as you well know).

I'm glad to see you're doing ok still though, and I hope your recording studio stuff is a success. You're both good sound engineers and you deserve for it to go well.

I know we've had our ups and downs but a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then and I'm glad to see you're still in Nottingham and making a go of things. Both our lives would be very different if we hadn't taken that first plunge. Would you believe I'm 24 now? I can hardly believe it myself. Time has flown by so quickly.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling. Take care of yourself.

Matt

Hello yourself. Yeah, we eventually killed Anaemic off after we decided that we just couldn't put up with the problems we were having with the others we'd saddled ourselves with. Bloody goths. And we took on TWO of them! Oh well, lessons learned and all that.

Tis a bit strange about the band thing, but I wanted to play drums properly so I took the chance when it came along. Although we're planning on changing the name when we can think of anything to change it to...

Yeah, I've not exactly had the best of luck with band members either. A combination of lack of enthusiasm/talent, plus total unreliablity left me with a sour taste in my mouth and absolutely no motivation to make it work, so I sacked it off completely for a year exploring other avenues of creativity (with varying degrees of success).

I've just picked up my acoustic guitar again in the last couple of weeks and written a couple of songs. I think I'll concentrate on playing solo for a while because it's so much easier (you can only let yourself down, after all!). If I fancy some recording I'll let you guys know!

I'm still toying with the idea of resurrecting Loci, but it gives me a headache even thinking about it. I just listen to the songs and think it's a shame it never got anywhere. With some tweaking I think it would have been awesome.

Band names are annoying and I can never think of anything decent. Remember how long we took to come up with Loci? I can only think up funny names for comedy bands, but my music doesn't really tie in with any of that. Good luck in whatever you call it though.

It was a hard decision to quit the band, but it wasn't really for me anymore as I'd become completely disillusioned with music by the time I'd quit. I felt awful letting Kris down but I'd got to the point of despising myself everytime I picked up my guitar. I'm glad I've taken some time out though, as I've been able to approach it from a new angle this time, and I'm much more relaxed about it now.

I'm thinking about getting into writing film scores. I have an acquaintance who's a film maker and he reckons I could come up with something half-decent. It's quite daunting though as I have no idea where to begin!

Where are you working these days? I'm still at PIPEX but it's dreadfully shite these days (turning into a call-centre listening to moaning twats rather than being technical anymore - although I'm sure you've heard enough of this from Sam as it is...). I'm job-hunting at the moment, but it's hard finding anything suitable that doesn't require commuting to Derby or Leicester or somewhere else inherently gay.

Did you go to Twin Zero the other weekend? I really wanted to make it but I wasn't in Nottingham that weekend, which was a shame. Any good?

I'm still with Next at the moment. Been there for two years now. I'm gonna have to get out in the next month though as I've had my contract cut back to 15 hours a week. So it looks more than likely that I'll be back in some shitty call centre job before long as that seems to be the only kind of work I'm capable of getting.

I went along to the Twin Zero gig. Tried to avoid Legion of Doom (massive posers: zero musical merit) and Illuminatus (they just sound like Nickleback playing Pink Floyd ripoffs to me). TZ seem to have shed a few members as it was just Roo on guitar, Si on drums and some new guy on bass. The drums didn't matter so much (although Ben Calvert can play Hutchby into the ground) but the guitars could have used some help. Still, it was a decent gig.
